Going Home: by Jim Meads

Jim Meads is an icon in our hunting fraternity: both sides of the Atlantic. Most hunting people either know Jim, or know of him. He is the legendary photographer who runs with hounds all day. And at 78, he’s still belting around hunting fields capturing action shots of packs, and pack followers.

Jim has been a wonderful ambassador for hunting, and his new book ‘Going Home’ is out now priced £30: available from www.countrybooksdirect.com

Hunting Personality of the Month

Anne Corbett says:

Anne Corbett
Anne Corbett

Passionate about hunting and the right to hunt,  I live and work only 30 miles from the centre of London in an area of outstanding natural beauty, where both beagles and foxhounds still meet regularly.

My family are associated with horseracing and we point to point for pleasure. When not mucking out horses, following hounds, or point to pointing I deal in sporting antiques under the name of ‘Gentleman’s Relish’ and many of you will have visited my trade stand at the Festival of Hunting.

As an avid user of the internet for business, I am delighted to have discovered www.themastersvoice.co.uk. I find the layout easy to access, and love having the back issues to hand in the archive section rather than in a pile gathering dust under the spare bed.

It’s very uplifting to have a publication with its roots entirely in the hunting field, and with articles from a wide variety of contributors who have both enthusiasm and depth of knowledge.

The Master’s Voice is set to become the site where hunting people can keep up to date with the hunting world, the political scene, and the countryside. It’s also rapidly becoming a ‘must have’ to source all things hunting through its growing list of advertisers.  Make sure you register for your free issues.

Can Anyone Help Betty?

Hello, I am 24 years old and have hunted since I was three. Before the season began I bought what was supposed to be a great hunter, 100% safe. It has turned out to be anything but, and has really knocked my confidence (he bolts flat out whilst bucking). I would like a 15hh-16hh aged 14yro plus on permanent loan. I cannot afford to buy one now as all my money is tied up in this other horse which I will not sell to anyone knowing what he is like.

It just has to be a 100% safe horse which will gate shut, go away on point, as well as go with the field. Ideally a cobby sort.  I hunt only twice a month and very occasionally jump a little fence. I just want a horse I can love and have a little fun on. If you do hear of anything, please keep me in mind.
