Edmund Porter has just completed 50 seasons with theEskdale & Ennerdale Foxhounds | © Midge Todhunter
Edmund Porter, joint master and huntsman of the Eskdale & Ennerdale Foxhounds, who has just completed 50 seasons with the E&E.
He never seems to age, and would take his hounds to the Moon if he thought it would promote and prosper hunting. He is a thoroughly down-to-earth, honest and decent chap, and continues to be one of the finest ambassadors our sport has ever known.
He is rightful chairman of the Central Committee of Fell Packs, and has a remarkable knowledge of all things natural in the British Countryside. That is because he cares about nature all around him: it is his work, and it is his pleasure. He is a fell huntsman, yet in the close season he loves to go fell walking with his two sons, and share his observations on all the beauty about them.

Hunting Personality of the Month ...we are just everyday people...
Jean Heal

Jane plants a kiss on Holcombe huntsman Steve Ashworth after winning the Puppy Show
Jane Heal has walked puppies for the Holcombe Hunt for many years and is married to Brian Heal MRCVS, the Hunt’s vet. Zinging with vitality, Jane hunts mounted, and is also Social Secretary for the Holcombe. At their last Hunt ‘do’, a Pool Party, Jane sported a grass skirt and two scallop shells as a make-shift bra. Out hunting Jane is known as the ‘Flying Ass’ and photos of her behind feature regularly in the Hunt’s end-of-season ‘Mud-Rash’ awards. When not hunting, Jane and Brain retreat to their place (little farm) in Spain where they probably still talk about hounds and hunting – even in Spain. A great hunting couple.

"As I see it, The Master's Voice has a very focussed and strong message, and is good at digging down into the real issues that effect hunting and the repeal of the hunting ban."
