275 campaigning days left to save hunting - the campaign has well and truly started

We are now less than 12 months away from a General Election…and if you take out Sundays and the mad months of August and December we have a maximum of only 275 days to go. A sobering thought!

There is a huge amount of campaigning activity going on across the country. If you would like to get involved in a target seat and help your local hunt or club with political campaigning for supportive pro-repeal and pro countryside candidates in your area please email us at Vote-OK, stating your name and address and we’ll put you in touch with your local Vote-OK Campaigner.

Help is currently required for a range of tasks, including leafleting, putting up posters and canvassing along with telling and getting out the vote on Election Day. Email info@vote-ok.co.uk

Puppy Shows – please invite your candidates

All hunts are asked to use puppy shows as another opportunity to raise awareness of the urgent need for supporters to engage in local political campaigning such as leafleting etc.

Please invite your Prospective Parliamentary Candidate along to your puppy show, or for that matter any hunt or club event over the summer, and provide them with an opportunity to reinforce the need for supporters to get involved.

Leaflets and template recruitment forms are also available if you would like some for distribution.

We have a golden opportunity of helping to elect MPs and thus a Government that is sympathetic to the views of the countryside. Please let’s not waste it.

Local Elections – why they DO matter

There is a huge of work going on this weekend and beyond in preparation for the Local Elections on 4th June. Many supporters up and down the country are out leafleting, canvassing and putting up posters for supportive candidates but unfortunately some hunts and clubs are still reluctant to get involved. We hope the following might help persuade the less enthusiastic to get cracking ASAP!

If the Local Elections result in an upsurge in supportive Councillors, it will make life much easier for our supportive Prospective Parliamentary Candidates (PPCs) – they will enjoy an increased level of help in the run up to the General Election, an increased supporter base and each candidate will become part of the growing political machine in that area. By stark contrast, the morale of the opposition’s supporters will in turn fall, resulting in fewer volunteers at the next General Election.

We have always maintained a non-partisan approach but the truth is that it is only with a Conservative Government that we will have the chance of Repeal. It would be wonderful if all parties supported Repeal but unfortunately this is not the case. Our primary purpose is to help elect enough supportive Members of Parliament to win a vote to repeal the ban, and a Government who will allow that vote on a bill in government time

Postal vote deadline – use your vote!

Please be aware that the key date a postal vote application has to be received by a local District Council, County or Unitary Authority is 19th May 2009. (Proxy vote applications can be submitted later, 27th May).  Please let as many people know this as possible – we need everyone to vote, somehow.
