Life is for Sharing - Hunting is for Camaraderie

Horse charging into water...
...hunting Denmark style...

The IHES trips are all about making hunting a global issue and showcasing our sport in a modern world. And, having a whole load fun doing just that.

A group of eight top-class hunt club riders from Denmark are all set to come over and experience a day’s hunting with the Holcombe: a group from the Holcombe will then fly out for a reciprocal day's hunting in Denmark.

We will not be using hotels, etc; we aim to create lasting friendships by experiencing each other’s rural culture - stay with them in their own homes, eat their native food, see how hunting is done in another land.

We have been working very hard on this scheme for 12 months. We have written to all the hunt authorities; I have been to Denmark to check out the first group who will shortly be exchanging; I have met with them all; I have seen them ride, and know what each member of the group are capable of; I know what horses will suit each incoming rider; I have been on one of their hunts; I have examined at length all the aspects and implications the exchange will have on the first exchange group – the Holcombe; and indeed on hunting in Britain. Each member of our incoming groups are vetted. We have looked at insurance for the scheme - for all concerned.

Imagine the kudos for hunting by giving a group of 20 yros the opportunity to travel and experience the true culture of other lands, all for the price of an air fare. Hunting needs some fresh thinking, and this is the start for one project.
